Irresistables Heat Set Paints (IRHSP) – LiquiThin

Available in 60 ml, 120 ml and 240 ml

IRHSP LiquiThin is an innovative formula designed to thin heat-set paint safely and without an unpleasant smell, without sacrificing colour depth. LiquiThin also binds the paint, creating a smooth and creamy mixture that does not readily separate. This means the paint only needs to be mixed thoroughly once.

LiquiThin has been developed as an alternative to solvents and oils. It is non-toxic, odourless and produces no fumes during or after baking. It is not an oil or solvent; this medium is designed to replace the functions of solvents and oils during the painting process.

LiquiThin vs. IRHSP Thinning Medium

LiquiThin should not be confused with IRHSP Thinning Medium.

• LiquiThin: thin and fluid, supplied in a bottle for pouring.
• IRHSP Thinning Medium: much thicker in consistency and supplied in a jar.

Both products can be used to thin heat-set paint, but they differ in consistency and application.

Benefits of LiquiThin

LiquiThin helps the paint flow smoothly and can be used to create a variety of effects. Depending on the ratio of paint to LiquiThin, you can create transparent washes as well as darker, more highly pigmented layers.

It can be used for:

• Transparent washes and subtle colour layers
• Improving paint flow and consistency
• Darker, more highly pigmented layers
• Hair painting
• Fantasy dolls

Because LiquiThin cures with heat, each baked layer effectively seals the paint. A final varnish is therefore not necessary unless you prefer to use one.

Instructions for use

1. Add a small amount of LiquiThin to your paint or medium.
2. Mix thoroughly until you achieve the desired consistency and flow.
3. For a more transparent, washable layer, use less paint and more LiquiThin.
4. For a darker, more pigmented layer, use more paint and less LiquiThin.
5. Preheat your oven to 265 °F / 130 °C.
6. Bake for 9–10 minutes.
7. Allow the paint to cool completely after heat-setting before applying the next layer.
8. Shake well before use.

Unlike most solvents and oils, LiquiThin is fully heat-curable.
